Stability testing is important for establishing the validity of new pharmaceutical formulations and existing in-house formulations. Evaluating a product over a specific period of time enables an expiration date to be set and allows a compounding pharmacist to better manage how often lots of various products need to be made. Factors such as inactive ingredients, methods of mixing, storage temperature, light, pH, and exposure to oxygen and water can affect the stability of a product. By controlling these conditions over a period of time and periodically testing the product, we are able to establish an expiration date for your product.
